Apple pockets Israeli flash controller specialist for $400m

US device maker doyen Apple Inc. has zipped up its first acquisition in Israel – that of flash memory maker Anobit for about $400 million. Globes Daily said Anobit, which was founded in 2006 and has 200 employees, has already been making flash controllers for devices which are embedded in Apple's iPads and iPhones. Aside, Globes reported Apple would also be setting up a processor development centre in Israel but the two deals are separate.
